The tape-in my idealised memory-is wonderful: just Syd's voice and acoustic guitar, the songs witty, melodic, charming, vulnerable, often flirtatious and concerned with the pursuit of an elusive girl like the "boon tune" which was recast as "Here I Go" on the Madcap Laughs, one of his two solo albums. The Floyd couldn't incorporate everything he wrote into their repertoire and I was keen to see if any other artists of mine might want to record one of them. Among the many possessions my life has scattered by the roadside is a tape of songs Syd gave me that winter. Bassist Roger Waters and manager Pete Jenner were the spokesmen of the group, the ones I dealt with about recording sessions and gig times. (The take of "Dark Globe" used on the album also featured out-of-time acoustic guitar playing and an unappealing vocal from Barrett the take that appeared on Opel is generally considered to be far superior.Six months later, the band were signed to EMI and crowds were queuing down Tottenham Court Road to hear their Friday night shows at the UFO Club. Most of the songs on the album are held in high regard, with the exception of "Feel", "She Took a Long Cold Look", and "If It's In You" all of which are disjointed and sung in a near-scream from Barrett.

It reached #40 in the UK at the time and was fairly well-reviewed, though many critics have since pointed out the nakedness of some of songs, such as "Dark Globe" and "Feel", to be somewhat despairing and reflecting Barrett's anguished mental state at the time.

In the fall of 69 Mick Rock did the photo shoot for the album at his Earl's Court flat wher. In April 1969, Malcolm Jones took over the project and Barrett began working on newer material, while reworking the 1968 recordings. On the 11th of April 1969, this song was recorded at EMI Studios.Although the sessions were brief, and they produced some fine material, the project was abandoned for almost a year while Barrett spent much of the year as a recluse. After leaving his parent group, Barrett began recording sessions with former Pink Floyd-turned-Syd Barrett manager Peter Jenner in May 1968.Robert Wyatt - Drums on 2 and 3 (from Soft Machine). They released 1st pre-debut EP in 2012 and released 2nd pre-debut EP in 2013.
